Several Bears Named to 16-4A’s All District Teams

The District  16-4A football all-district selectins are out and several West Oso players are recognized.   The Bears were only Corpus Christi area school to play a full 10 game regular season.   The team finished with a 2-8 record.  Coaches from the district select the all-district team athletically.  Players with a 90 or better average are placed on the district’s all academic team.  Below are the representatives from West Oso along with head coach Brad Smithey’s thoughts on those who made first team.

1st Team

WR-Jalen James, Sr.
“Big down field threat, who was going to make the big time catches.”
WR-Ryshad Carrington, Sr.
“He was explosive and would get 15 yards on something like a hitch route.”
DE- Patrick Garcia, Jr.
“Explosive off the edge and someone you could count on to make the tackle.”
CB- Jayden Garcia, Jr.
“Not to many guys play man a 100% of the time and guard D1 talent”
ILB-Daniel Esquivel, Jr.
” Leading in tackles not the biggest guy in the world but will stick his nose in it and he had a really good year.”
